About Our Claddagh Rings:
These rings can be worn as an Irish promise ring to celebrate commitment to ones significant other. However, these rings are not limited to a celebration of Irish heritage, as many people wear them to celebrate a recent engagement or marriage. Many couples choose to get their Claddaugh Rings engraved with an important date or their partners name. Eves Addiction offers engraving for many of our Claddaugh Rings and Claddaugh Bands, giving you the opportunity to make these items even more special.
History of the Claddagh:
Claddagh has been a part of Irish tradition since the 17th century, and its design of hands clasping a heart is symbolic of love and friendship, while the crown on the heart is a symbol of loyalty. One historical tale tells the story of a fisherman from Ireland who was separated from his love for many years while being held against his will and upon returning home after being set free, found that his lady had stayed true to him after all that time. In return, he gave her this ring to symbolize his feeling that they were one. Since that time, Claddagh rings have taken special meaning of conveying ones love of another person, or availability for love and have even become a symbol of representing ones Irish heritage.
How to wear your Claddagh Ring:
Place the ring with the hands facing outward on your right hand if you are looking for love, and face the hands inward to show your interest in someone special. Wearing the ring on your left hand with the hands facing outward shows that you are engaged, and place the hands facing you to show your dedication to your spouse! Pair these rings with our collection of Celtic Jewerly, to bring out the Irish in you! Our Sterling Silver Celtic Trinity Knot Pendant and Celtic Trinity Knot Earrings pair well with our Claddagh rings, and are sure to be a great fit for anyone!
