Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Elizabeth "Kate" Middleton became engaged in October 2010 during a private holiday in Kenya. The Prince William revealed he gave his long-term girlfriend the distinctive blue sapphire ring that belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales, to make sure she "didn't miss out on the excitement".
William said: "As you may have recognized, it's my mother's engagement ring, so of course it's very special to me and Kate's very special to me now as well, and it's only right the two are put together. It was my way of making sure my mother didn't miss out on today, and the excitement and the fact that we're going to spend the rest of our lives together."
Prince Charles proposed to Diana Spencer on February 6, 1981. On February 24th, they appeared together in public for the first time at the official engagement announcement. They got married to each other on July 29, 1981 at St. Paul's Cathedral. Diana was the first English woman to wed a successor to England's throne in over 300 years. The marriage ceremony was shown on TV in 74 countries and watched by 750 million people worldwide. Her engagement ring was an 18 carat sapphire surrounded by diamonds, which was made by Garrard the Crown Jewellers.

I just received this ring yesterday and when I took it out of the package I was floored! It is simply stunning! It has always been a dream of mine to own a ring like Princess Diana's and I am in love with this one. The sapphire is the perfect color blue and the crystals make it look so real. Can't wait to wear it out!

When I received this ring (quite fast I might add), I ripped open the package and then flipped open the box and my jaw dropped. It is absolutely stunning! I cannot take it off my finger - no, not because its too tight, but because I love it too much to put it down. The sapphire is so clear and such a stunner that it makes a great addition to anything you are wearing and always makes you feel like royalty.
I'd like to add that I was hoping it had matching earrings and a pendant since I have a wedding to go to in 2 months and I would love to make a sparkling splash! I love this ring! Thanks Eve's Addiction!
